A year ago, Estonian online media agency OKIA came up with an initiative of tidying up Google image search for a specific keyword welcome to estonia. Dozens of bloggers joined, uploading beautiful images, while doing some doing some search engine-targeted magic to relate those nice images to “welcome to estonia” keyword. They said that the results should be showing within a month or so.
Fast forward to December 2010. The first image from given campaign seems to be on position #12, after some not-so-nice images, pictured here. #2 is the reason this screenshot here is made so small, #5 is about a sign saying that some things should be done in toilet and #6 is a homeless sleeping on street bench.
I guess it was fun experiment anyways, although totally pointless, as the only people really using this keyword are the ones who are looking for the logotype, not the tourists looking for information about Estonia. We will take part in this event using our own phrases, apartments in Tallinn, perhaps.
